Some algorithms in eCognition can utilize more than one core for processing, these include:
- multiresolution segmentation
- template matching
- layer arithmetic
- feature calculations

The default setting is set to max16 cores. If you have more, and you want to make use of them, please use the "set rule set options" algorithm and define the "Maximum number of CPU cores" in the parameter section. Execute it and afterwards eCognition will use the defined number of cores. The sky’s the limit - you can define any number of cores for multicore operations! Enjoy lightspeed!

Of course, you can also limit the processing by setting the max core used to a lower number.
