Hi there,

I have a LiDAR point cloud that is colorized using an onboard RGB sensor. Is there a way to make an RGB raster out of the colored points?
I want to use this to make a CNN for classifying tree species with the LiDAR.

Any other meaningful way of doing this would also be greatly appreciated.

Hi Atilla - great question and the answer is yes. You can use the "rasterize point cloud" algorithm to rasterize different point cloud fields and 4 of the fields we support are for R, G, B and NIR. If you select these from the "Point field" parameter drop-down menu the algorithm will create a temporary raster file with the values of the defined field. You will then have individual layers for each color field an can use these like any other layer within eCognition.

Remember, you can rasterize multiple fields within a single algorithm - this will keep the rule set cleaner!

    Ah, there we have it!
Thank you for your response Keith.
