Hello! I am conducting OBIA analyses in eCognition Developer 9.5.1. I am desperately in need of a way to export my training samples as a shapefile. I see this is possible in later versions of the software but am not seeing a way to do it in my version. I have tried every export algorithm both prior to and following classification and am having no luck. I need to report the percent area of the scene which was used in training, which is why I need it to be in the form of a shapefile (so I can calculate area within a GIS). Thank you to anyone who might have an idea!

    Hi Emory,

In eCognition Developer 9.5, you can not export just the samples which can be selected as part of the domain in further releases (Samples Only: Yes). But there is a workaround in which you, having already the samples per class, can use the algorithm export vector layer and add attributes to the vector table (Parameters) as Area and Class Name. Note: You can calculate the area without leaving eCognition, using Object Features > Geometry > Based on polygons > Area or Object Features > Geometry > Extent > Area. With this, you may export all your samples at once with the area calculated.

Alternatively, you can use the algorithm Samples to Classified Image Objects after finishing the samples, and then just export the objects as vector filtering by class.

    Kind regards,

    Javier
